Not a Quitter

I keep trying to blog, and blog, and blog. And nothing happens. You should see the list of saved drafts I have, it's sort of out of control. I miss this. The blogging thing.

But I've been busy. And tired. Distracted. Worried about things I shouldn't have even been worrying about (like a paper I thought for sure I failed only to get it back with a big fat A on it.) And I'll be honest, when given a few moments of down time I usually watch some tv show I missed because of studying instead.

But enough explanation, this is me blogging here because I'm totally not a quitter.

What's new?

Melissa Joan Hart follows me on twitter. No really. I send my tweets out into the world and she reads them. Omg, right? And she retweeted me once. Seriously.

I'm in love with the ABC show Modern Family. It is some serious comedy gold. That and Amy Poehler's Parks & Rec have saved my soul with laughter this semester.

I broke my iPod. Jon also broke every single pair of earphones for both of our iPods, plus a couple pairs of old ones and 2 replacement pairs. Freak accidents, all of it. But still, that's a lotta iPod breakin' going on.

Italian: Mi chiamo Aprile. Sono di Taylorsville, KY. Ho ventitre anni. Ho un fratello. Mi piace la musica e leggere. I could go on...but you get the idea. I know some Italian. Someone asked me the other day what I could do with Italian. Umm, take an awesome trip to Italy and not feel totally lost. Not the best reason to know a tad bit of a language. But you know what? It's enough for me.

Sunday I'm taking the brother and mother to see Michael Jackson's 'This is It.' Super excited about that, not going to lie. I hear it's pretty amazing. And by hear, I mean Liz Taylor told me it was on Twitter.

Holiday I'm kinda not all that into: Halloween. Holidays I'm kinda already stoked for: Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cannot wait.

P.S. I love this dog.

Tweetial Pursuit

Remember that one time Demi Moore retweeted me?
DEMI MOORE ANSWERS ME!
Which was weird and whatever and kinda cool.

But beyond that I don't really go out of my way to @reply celebs on Twitter, even though I do admit to following a ton of them.

But I love trivia. And my instinct is to answer as quickly as possible when I know I'm right.
Which is why I answered when Melissa Joan Hart asked this question:
Capturemjh1

At this point I didn't even know the trivia had a point to it.
Capturemjh2

But apparently I gave the first correct answer.
Capturemjh3

So Jon was all, "what did you win?"

Except I had no idea. So I scrolled through and found out she gives out autographed copies of herself.

My very own Melissa Joan Hart picture. I'll cherish it forever as a sign of my trivia prowess.

Quote of the Day

When Christ said: "I was hungry and you fed me," he didn't mean only the hunger for bread and for food; he also meant the hunger to be loved. Jesus himself experienced this loneliness. He came amongst his own and his own received him not, and it hurt him then and it has kept on hurting him. The same hunger, the same loneliness, the same having no one to be accepted by and to be loved and wanted by. Every human being in that case resembles Christ in his loneliness; and that is the hardest part, that's real hunger.

Photo of the Day

Riley stopped by to visit after her pediatrician appointment this afternoon. It was the first time I'd seen her in weeks. I got to witness first hand what I'd been hearing: Riley hasn't met a jar of fruit or vegetables that she doesn't love. And she loves her bottles. Given her mom and dad are both tall people it shouldn't be shocking that she's in the 95th percentile for height.

Let's just say, this is no petite 6 month old.

I took a bunch of photos, narrowed it down to a few on my Flickr page or Facebook, but I think these two are my favorites.

What a little stinker.

The Weekend We All Became Plumbers

The faucet has been leaking for a couple of weeks so Saturday, after a marathon mall to return something at Old Navy-car dealership for my new license plate-Starbucks for iced pumpkin spice lattes-and Moes for yummy queso session my mother and I hit up Home Depot to find a new kitchen faucet. And the supplies to replace it ourselves.

Today the four of us and Jack set about the task of changing it:
faucet 011

The new faucet requirements were as follows: tall enough to easily fill pitchers and stock pots, 2 handles for hot and cold instead of that singular thing we'd all come to hate, and that it not be too expensive, nor so cheap it'd break in 6 months.
faucet 014

2 hardware store trips, 5 hours and a bag of stuff that has to be returned to Home Depot later, I think we succeeded.

Bonus Photo: what happens when you leave a basket of warm towels sitting around at my house:

I'm just going to say it, I think chihuahuas get a bad rap for being yappy purse dogs. Because seriously, I can't imagine a life without one of these in it. In fact if I had to compile a list of reasons to own one I believe it would go as follows:

*great baby substitutes for the childless. They require just as much attention (they love to be swaddled) and they never grow up. Aka, you'll never have to pay for college.
*they could easily play the Baby Jesus in your next live nativity. Or a shepherd. Or a wise man. Basically...get one and put it in a costume, you'll see what I'm talking about.
*better guard dogs than big dogs. Seriously, Jill will cut a bitch. I'm just sayin'.

I could go on, but a dog that makes a great baby Jesus? I rest my case right there.

Quote of the Day

What we are talking about here is access to healthcare. We are talking about mothers and fathers losing their homes and their life savings trying to save their children. We are talking about families helping a loved one to fight cancer. We are talking about people suffering with diabetes, asthma and AIDS. We are not talking about death panels and for God’s sakes we are not talking about Nazi Germany. We are talking about tending to the sick and the poor… does that sound familiar to anyone? You Value Voters out there claim to read the Bible. Maybe you should crack the cover on that one again. You are so damn worried about who is marrying who and what immigrant is getting the best shift at the Taco Bell, but God forbid someone’s suffering doesn’t come with a price tag. Honestly, if I could , I would put the entire Republic party over my knee and give them a good spanking. What does it say about our country if the biggest debate of the decade is no longer about the two wars we are fighting but rather about preventing children and families from having access to affordable healthcare? I’ll tell you what it says to me. It says the Christian Right never really was and Value Voters aren’t very valuable.
